    Reagan - Homecoming '10

Friday evening while apparently no one watched their team play the Homecoming game, four of Reagan's friends came over to get ready for the dance.

Rich was at a banquet, Hayden was hiding in the basement and Faith wandered around taking pictures and wished that she was fifteen too.

These girls are so smart.  They are good students, they can write and turn in papers online.  They can operate computers and mp3 players and program cell phones and DVRs.

But they do not know how to use curling irons.

Flat irons, yes.  Curling irons, no.  So Alysha's mom and I curled four of the five heads and reveled in the fact that the 80's had prepared us for something.  We know how to wield curling irons and aerosol hair spray like pros.

While we curled, the girls giggled and talked non-stop.

And put on make up of course.  They are really good at that.  Every face looked lovely and not too made up.

And then, while we waited for boys to show up, they happily posed for pictures.

Guess which one is not on the volleyball team.

She spent the whole night trying to stand on tippy-toe for pictures.

Note all the bare feet.  They didn't even bother buying shoes to match their dresses because as soon as they get to the dance, everyone goes barefoot.

    I do not know why.

But it saves me money so I am all for it.

Reagan couldn't have gotten shoes on anyway.

She wore sparkly gold flip flops that she already had on hand.

Next they practiced their dance moves.

Reagan doesn't know I posted those.

There is a fairly good chance she'll make me take them down if she sees them, but I think they are adorable.

All the fun ended when the boys showed up.

    Kidding!  I kid!

    Sort of.

Two of those boys are dates.  The one in socks with indentations from flip flops was solo.

Perhaps if he ditched the socks he'd have better luck?

After pictures they all headed out.  Reagan of course has the strict parents who drove her there and then picked her up but she lived through it.

I'm told they had fun at the dance although very little dancing actually took place.

There are very, very few moments of high school I'd want to do again.  But yeah, nights like this were fun.  I'm glad I get to experience them again, even if it's just as a hairdresser/photographer/chauffeur.

Very cute! Reagan looks beautiful...was one of those dates hers? I am guessing not, since Rich wasn't in the pictures giving warning looks...

    She's so pretty.

And I don't know how to use a curling iron either!

Thanks for post those, and thanks to Reagan who let you! They all looked beautiful!

Reagan looked lovely! I'm guessing that is Jim next to her. I'm glad that they still went in
a group, more fun that way. Thanks for the heads up, I had already checked several
times, glad I got to see the pictures while they are still up!

Such pretty pics...I miss having a houseful of chatty giggling girls. Mine are always the ones on tippytoes : )

So cute! I miss having my girls at home to fluff and frufru with. Boys are stinky and just not as fun. (with that kind of thing)
I was the girl who was always the short one. I never had problems finding a date that was taller than me!

You see, if you lived in a rowing town, the little one wouldn't be on tip toes, she would be ordering all the other girls to come down to her level. She would be the coxwain afterall.

Girls in your town are tall. And also very pretty. I'm glad they had fun.

This is one of my favorite lines written, ever, anywhere...
"So Alysha's mom and I curled four of the five heads and reveled in the fact that the 80's had prepared us for something."
    It made my night!
What a group of gorgeous girls! So fun that they had the get-ready time...I think that sounds like the most fun of the whole evening.
You know...I never went to a dance until prom. My junior year of high school!

darling, darling girls. they look beautiful...and your house looks great.

ha - the 80s prepared you for something - I love it!

Reagan looks beautiful! But I just kept thinking, as I read your post, how much things have changed since I went to school. I remember how the dances were so formal. Girls would be decked out in sequins from head to foot. And no one would dream of going barefoot! Granted, it was the 80s, as you say. Maybe that's the difference? Either way, they looked beautiful and I hope they had a good time!

What restrained you from adding 4 inches in height to their hair and spraying it so it couldn't fall? I loved the part about how they were so tech-y but couldn't operate a curling iron, my daughter too! What a fun glimpse into those fun days. I would re-live them too. Except you HAD to have a date to go back in my day and it was SO painful waiting for someone to ask. In that sense, today is much better.

They look great! And, I know that I was highly valued in college because I knew how to do hair. I'd always have a line of friends waiting on dance nights.

Beautiful, & I love your daughters dress the best. My girl wore flipflops that were sequenzed (target) as well.

"Guess which one isn't on the volleyball team." Ha ha ha! You made me snort coffee up my nose! I was tiny, too, but I played volleyball anyway...I had a sneaky serve!

Such fun. I wish I looked like that when I was 15. I didn't discover make-up for real until I was almost 18.

What fun! I miss those days - but only parts of them :) Can we have a grown-up formal just for the heck of it?

Can't wait to experience this in the future...not so much!

The girls all looked darling! I saw on Facebook where a friend of mine's daughter wore matching black/silver high tops with her homecoming dress and it was sooo cute! I figured that would be a pair of shoes that would be worn again.
