    Apple Butter In The Crockpot

You can use homemade or purchased apple sauce in this recipe. Just make sure it is unsweetened. You’ll need a 6 qt crock pot for this.

    4-5 quarts unsweetened applesauce
    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup honey
    1 2/3 cup brown sugar
    2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup cider vinegar (just trust me here)
    1/3 cup orange juice
1/4 - 1/2 tsp ground cloves (amount depends on how much you like cloves)
    1-4 - 1/2 tsp ground ginger (ditto)

Fill crock-pot half way with applesauce. Add the rest of the ingredients. Stir. Add the rest of the applesauce until crock is nearly full. Carefully stir again. Cook overnight on low. Remove lid, cook on high until thick, stirring occasionally.

How to know it’s done: keep a small plate in the freezer. When you think the apple butter is thick enough, drop a tsp of it onto the plate. If it holds its shape without forming a ring of liquid, it’s done.

You can can or freeze the apple butter or it will keep in the fridge for several weeks.

This looks so good I am determined to make it, even though I don't know what to eat apple butter with. Please help.
